Birthways: Mamacare–How to Prepare for the 4th Trimester

Mamacare – How to prepare for the 4th Trimester – NEW! –

November 21st 1:00 to 5:00 $90.00/couple
When we are pregnant we carefully tend to our health, knowing that caring for ourselves is a major part of how we care for our unborn baby. What mothers and their partners often forget, however, is that caring for ourselves is essential for our little ones even after they arrive in the world. Focused on tending to the needs of our babies, new moms can forget and/or not know how to balance looking after themselves and their newborns.

Postpartum Preparation provides expecting parents with information and tools to help you through the often forgotten, but critically important fourth trimester. This class helps you understand the physical, emotional and social changes that happen after the baby is born and how to navigate them as co-partners in the parenting journey. It will cover topics including, rest and recovery, nutrition for lactation, relationship issues, postpartum depression and shifts in identity. With up to 20% of women experiencing postpartum depression, it is important to prepare yourself for the fourth trimester and ease the transition into parenthood. Education and realistic expectations are key in preventing postpartum burnout. This class provides practical suggestions for what to expect after the baby arrives.

NOTE: Your registration reserves a space for two (you and one birth partner). We strongly suggest bringing along a partner, doula, or other support person.
